Dental Emergencies

Dental Emergencies seem to always happen at the most inconvenient of times, so when you need to be seen urgently, our dental team are here to help. Whatever the cause of your pain, injury, or discomfort, seeing our dentists quickly can often make it easier to get problems sorted out and get you on the road to recovery.

Dental trauma

One of the most common reasons people need emergency treatment is because of a trauma or injury. This can be from a fall, a sports injury, or any kind of accident and you may have:

Knocked out a tooth

  • Lost a crown
  • Fractured a tooth
  • Broken a denture or other device

Suffering this kind of trauma can be painful as well as upsetting, and our dental team understand how important it is to get you fixed up as soon as possible. There are many different options available to fix your teeth, so try to remain calm and make sure you see your dentist as soon as possible.

If you’ve knocked out a tooth, you can try to re-implant it straight into the socket, securing it by fashioning a splint out of silver paper. If this isn’t possible, then you can either hold the tooth between your teeth and cheeks, or place it in cold water. You can then call our team and make an emergency appointment, and the sooner our dentist sees you, the more likely it is that the tooth can be re-implanted.

Toothaches and swellings

Pain and swelling in our mouths is usually our body’s way of telling us something is wrong, so it’s important to see our dentists as soon as possible for a thorough examination. If you catch certain conditions in the early stages, then the treatment is often much easier, so don’t put it off.
